Applejack Deck Guide: How to Play & Upgrade

Applejack Deck Guide: How to Play & Upgrade
Hi everyone,
The Applejack deck in My Little Pony TCG revolves around untapped Scenes, which is a pretty unique mechanic. Applejack has the ability to untap tapped Scenes, creating a lot of tactical possibilities.
You can check the full Applejack card list here.
The two key engine cards are SD01D-U04 Winona and SD01D-U01 Applejack.

How Does the Applejack Deck Work?

Simply put, the Applejack deck's playstyle is similar to early Rogue in Hearthstone.
The deck mainly revolves around refreshing and playing Scene cards, which function as your resources each turn. Because of this, you need to carefully plan your card order and resource management.
The tricky part is maximizing your resource efficiency in a single turn to create a bigger advantage. Because of that, the Applejack deck has a relatively high skill ceiling.
In terms of tempo, the deck can start to pop off around 3–4 mana and suddenly flood the board with a massive wave.

How to Upgrade the Applejack Deck

SD01D-U03 Apple Bloom

Because it needs to be paired with Winona, SD01D-U03 Apple Bloom can sometimes brick. Consider replacing it with a card that provides more consistent value.

Big McIntosh

The 4-cost Big McIntosh doesn't have a special ability, so it's another flexible slot. You can replace vanilla characters with lower- or higher-cost options depending on your preferred tempo.

SD01D-SPR02 Rope Trick

SD01D-SPR02 Rope Trick has a good effect, but its trigger condition can be difficult to activate. I'd recommend replacing it with something cheaper or more consistent.

Best Applejack Cards

SD01-CR04 Applejack A powerful card that can untap Scene cards and directly supports the deck's core strategy.
SD01-GR04 Applejack A versatile card that works especially well with board-flooding and tempo strategies.
SD01-SR04 Applejack At only 2 cost, this card can generate significant value when properly planned. It can also replace some of the vanilla characters in the deck.
BP02-GR10 Applejack From Discord! (BP2), this is a very efficient upgrade. Being able to refresh mana while recovering a Scene card's used ability opens up some interesting deck-building possibilities.

Final Thoughts

The Applejack deck is all about Scene management, resource efficiency, and careful sequencing. It may take a little more practice than a straightforward deck, but that's also what makes it fun.
If you enjoy decks that reward planning and finding the best play each turn, Applejack is definitely worth trying.
